Maureen Koech, prolific Kenyan born and bred actress is a promising talent. A multiple award winning actress, musician and film producer, Maureen Koech began her career in the performing Arts in high school where she discovered that she had a gift. Going on to college, she joined the Strathmore University Drama society where she was a part of a number of theatre plays that were professionally staged at the Alliance Francis theatre.
It was also when in college that she went for her very first audition, where she managed to get her first onscreen professional role, playing a character named ‘Shiks’ on the award winning, highly acclaimed campus Drama Changing Times. She has been unstoppable ever since then, pouring her heart and soul into every project she has been a part of, which include several TV Series, short and feature films.Maureen won Best Supporting Actress at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in Lagos, Nigeria in 2013 for her role ‘Patricia’ in the TV drama Lies that Bind. Sticking Ribbons, a short film she starred in won Best East African talent Award at the Zanzibar International film festival 2014. She also won best actress at the Machakos Short Film Festival in December 2016 for her performance as ‘Fiona’ in the film SEED and was nominated for best Lead actress at the Riverwood Academy Awards 2017 as well, for the same role. She features in a new TV series titled ‘Arnold & Bundi, playing the character of ‘Vera’, and also stars in 2017 “The Statistic” a short film based on the Kenyan election season, available online. Her most recent performance is in “Age of Grace”, a web series she stars in, is co-writer and co-producer, set to premiere and showcase soon.
